College of Fine Arts

The College of Fine Arts, founded in 1905, was the first comprehensive arts teaching institution in the United States. Today it consists of five schools: Art, Architecture, Design, Drama and Music. Each school contributes significantly to the cultural life of the university, the city of Pittsburgh and the nation. An experimental, interdisciplinary unit in the college, the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, serves the interests of all five schools as well as the university at large.
