Academic

The School of Art offers three instructional programs that serve as models for a flexible, progressive approach to the education of the artist:

a four-year undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in art,

a three-year graduate program leading to a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in art, and

academic year and summer pre-college programs for high school students.

Additionally, the School of Art, together with the four other schools in the College of Fine Arts, also participates in two interdisciplinary degree programs connected to disciplines outside of the arts:

a four-year undergraduate program with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences leading to a Bachelor of Humanities and Arts (B.H.A.) degree with a focus in art, and

a four-year undergraduate program with the Mellon College of Science leading to a Bachelor of Science and Arts (B.S.A.) degree with a focus in art.

a four-year undergraduate program with the School of Computer Science leading to a Bachelor of Computer Science and Arts (B.C.S.A.) degree with a focus in art.

The School of Art also offers occasional undergraduate summer courses.

The School's educational programs are enhanced by two well-established lecture series, which serve not only the School of Art, but also the university and the Pittsburgh community. For information on these lecture programs, click here.
